Saniderm Aftercare:
Recommended aftercare products: Dial Antibacterial Liquid Hand Soap (no bar), Aveeno Unscented, Lubriderm, and Cerave
Always wash your hands with liquid antibacterial hand soap and water before touching your tattoo.
Leave the Saniderm on for 3-5 days. Your tattoo is protected from outside elements while the bandage is on.
There will likely be fluid build up underneath the bandage. This is normal. If the fluid leaks out, remove the bandage immediately.
The bandage is water resistant so showering is okay. Do not soak or submerge the bandage until you are ready to remove it.
To remove, run under warm water while slowly pulling the bandage off. Ink may stain the bandage but does not pull out any ink.
Immediately wash your tattoo with antibacterial liquid hand soap and warm water. Use your hands only; do not use anything abrasive. Pat dry with a single use paper towel or allow to air dry.
If the bandage is on for the full 5 days, the tattoo will be nearly healed. Lightly moisturize any dry skin with a water based, unscented lotion.
After your tattoo is done flaking, it is fully healed. Protect your tattoo from fading/sun damage by applying sunscreen before going into direct sunlight.
If you notice excessive redness around the bandage immediately remove it. If the bandage becomes uncomfortable, itchy, or irritated, remove and follow traditional aftercare instructions.
Traditional Aftercare:
Always wash your hands with liquid antibacterial hand soap and water before touching your tattoo.
Leave your bandage on for at least 1 hour, no longer than 4 hours.
After removing your bandage, gently wash your tattoo with antibacterial liquid hand soap and warm water.
Use hands only; do not use anything abrasive.
Let your tattoo air dry or gently pat dry with a paper towel.
Leave your tattoo open to the air, do not re-wrap your tattoo.
Wash your tattoo twice a day for 2 weeks. Once dryness and scabbing begins, only then apply minimal amounts of an unscented, water based lotion 3-6 times a day to remedy dryness and itching. We recommend Lubriderm or Aveeno.
Your tattoo will peel and flake like a sunburn. Do not peel the skin or pick at the scabs. Do not scratch your tattoo.
Your new tattoo is an open wound during the healing process. Do not overapply lotion during the healing process; this will obstruct airflow and prevent your tattoo from healing properly.
Do not soak or submerge the tattoo until it is completely healed. No lakes, pools, hot tubs, baths, sunbathing, etc. Showering is okay.
After your tattoo is completely healed, protect your tattoo from sun damage by applying sunscreen before going into direct sunlight.
Your tattoo will be healed in approximately 2-3 weeks.
